The Newcastle District Cricket Association (NDCA) season officially came to an end after some breathtaking finals last week.
The KFC plate belonged to Highlands, who beat a spirited AMSA outfit at the Paradise grounds.
The KFC Cup competition was decided between Asians and FNB Insurance Brokers Phoenix.
Asians batted first and amassed 99 runs from their allotted 20 overs, where Saadiq Bhula impressed with the willow once again.
In reply, Phoenix lost captain Graham Sharp early but a wonderful partnership between Chris Ewart and Andrew Charters took the game away from Asians.
Andrew Charters top-scored, with an unbeaten 40 that saw Phoenix to victory by seven wickets.
Sohail Gori (Asians) was the Batsman of the Tournament, Usman Dessai (Asians) won the Best Bowler category while Graham Sharp (Phoenix) was the Player of the Tournament.
On Wednesday the Perfect Water 6-a-side reached its playoffs.
In the plate competition the President 6 beat Paradise Invitation. The President 6 batted first and scored 85 runs from five overs and then restricted the Paradise team to 63.
The Cup Final was a nail-biter as Phoenix faced Underdogs in the last match of the season.
Underdogs, who beat Paradise in the semi-finals, scored 59 runs from their five overs at the crease, but it was not enough as Phoenix chased the score with five balls to spare.
Hussain Essop (Paradise) was the Batsman of the Tournament with 202 runs. Renesh Harbhajan (Paradise) was the Bowler of the Tournament with five wickets and Arslan Butt (Underdogs) was the Player of the Tournament.
On behalf of the NDCA, Johan Ferreira thanked the 10 clubs that participated in the NDCA season.
“Thank you to our role players, Ithemba Security, Spur, Trevor Smith Sports, Perfect Water, KFC, Newcastle Sport & Recreation, the municipality and the Newcastle Advertiser. We now take a break until September, but I believe that the 2017/18 season will be even better as we have applied for premier league status at KwaZulu-Natal Cricket,” he concluded.
