ArcelorMittal reels in the winners

Entrance was restricted to employees and their families who arrived in their droves, and a total of 137 adults and 27 children attended the event.

NTSHINGWAYO DAM – ArcelorMittal hosted its first fishing competition at the Ntshingwayo dam on April 8.

Entrance was restricted to employees and their families who arrived in their droves, and a total of 137 adults and 27 children attended the event.

ArcelorMittal Transformation Centre of Excellence Manager, Joe Nowbath, said the rough terrain did not deter the anglers who made their way to the zones in search of the elusive ‘big one’.

“It was a long day of fishing which seemed to break the stranglehold which the dam has held in recent weeks,” he said.

Some large fish were caught, the largest one weighing a whopping 4.3kg.

The results were as follows:

Children Division:

– First place – Liane Snyman – Carp, 1.35kg.

– Second place – Saskia Sumair – Carp, 1.21kg .

– Third place – Shanay Moodley – Carp, 0.804kg.

Women:

– First place – Shelley Mcquade, carp, 1.165kg.

– Second place – Susan Jooste, carp, 1.021kg.

– Third place – Angelique Ness, carp, 0.855 kg.

Men:

– First place – Fuwaad Khan – carp of 4.306kg.

– Second place – Parash Harriparsadh – carp, 3.836kg.

– Third place – Ashay Mia, carp – 3.628kg.

“ArcelorMittal would like to place on record its gratitude to the sponsors of the prizes,” Mr Nowbath concluded.
