Sweet revenge for APL newcomers

NEWCASTLE – Ladysmith Angling Club raised its hands in victory in the final of the Transnat Knock Out on April 9.
In an instance of sweet retribution at Richgate Park, the newcomers topped VME League champion, Breakwaters by 51 points to 27.
This means both clubs boast one piece of silverware each.

Breakwaters and Ladysmith are set to battle again on April 23.
The AA Tours Grand Challenge pits the League champions against the Knock Out champions at Richgate Park, for the final season fixture.
Current record holders for the APL are:
Preetam Birbal of Challengers caught the heaviest carp to date, a whopper of 3,6 kilograms, while Sikander Amod of Stillwaters holds the current record for the heaviest non-scaled fish of 6,9kg.
Stillwaters’s Suvyn Budhoo was rewarded for a rare bass catch.
Veruschka Boodhoo of Stillwaters and Iqbal Ashraff of Challengers have secured the titles of Lady Angler of the Year and Senior Angler of the Year respectively.
The coveted Angler of the Year title has gone to Ebrahim Mia.
Nadir Chrisenduth (Breakwaters) and Mohamed Mia (Challengers) ended in the season’s second and third positions respectively.
“This brings an end to a very successful season under the auspices of the APL, having increased its membership from three to five clubs,” club management added.
The new season commences on August 1.
