Jordan pursues his cricket dream

Jordan Kinsley is hoping to materialise his dreams of becoming a professional cricketer.

Jordan Kinsley is securing his dream of a career in professional cricket materialises, one wicket at a time.

Last year, the 19-year-old cricketer was a student at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria, after his selection in 2015.

“I really enjoyed training at the academy; I had a lot of exposure and it is a stepping stone for me to pursue a career in cricket.”

While claiming the exposure allowed for his performance to be noted, Jordan said the lessons he learned were invaluable.

“I bowled against the Proteas and England’s national team and it was really an awesome experience, as I was able to learn from the best in the world, and they really helped me a lot.”

The experience gained at the academy has seen Jordan reap the benefits on the cricket pitch as a student at the University of Pretoria, when he was awarded the title for most wickets taken.

Jordan is exceptionally proud of this award, because he believed it reflected how much he has grown in the sport since picking up a cricket ball in Grade 2.

“I love the camaraderie in cricket, as well as the fact that it is a humbling sport. You can be on top of the world today and be bowled out as soon as you walk onto the pitch tomorrow.”

Looking to the future, Jordan said he hopes to pursue a career in amateur cricket once he has completed his studies.

“Once in amateur cricket, I can look at franchise level and hopefully play for one of the teams in the country,” he concluded.
