A mediocre field of 34 golfers participated in Saturday’s Monthly Mug Medal competition at Dundee Country Club in glorious weather conditions.
The best scores on the day were recorded in the Men’s B Division where both Willie Maritz and Robert Khumalo finished with an excellent 64 net to see them go into a play-off for the Mug. After two extra holes they were still tied and with the daylight fading fast they played out on the 18th hole from the 150-metre mark, which saw Robert Khumalo winning the Mug by one shot.
Doctor Sifiso Kunene holed out his second shot on the par-four 14th hole for a great 2 club which helped him record a 69 net and win the Men’s A Division Mug. The Ladies B Division Mug was won by the ever consistent Lorien De Wit who also finished the day with a net 69.
Besides Sifiso Kunene’s 2 Club on the par four 14th hole, there were three players who recorded a 2 Club on the short par 3’s.
They were Danie Von Mollendorff at the 4th hole and Dan Scholtz and Humphrey Browning, both on the 12th hole.
Forthcoming fixtures: Saturday, May 13: Mother-In-Law Revenge – a 4 Ball Alliance competition and Saturday, May 20 is the NG Kerk Charity Golf Day.
