Just a day after the conclusion of the French MotoGP race the riders received the sad news of Nicky Hayden’s death.

The former MotoGP World Champion and current World Superbike rider had passed away due to injuries sustained in an accident. Hayden was hit by a car while out cycling.

Many riders displayed signs of support for Nicky on the grid before the French Grand Prix took place but sadly he did not pull through.

We send our condolences to his family and everyone he leaves behind. Rest In Peace Nicky.

In terms of the MotoGP Championship, Vinales now holds a slender lead over Pedrosa in the title race.

The sixth round of the season will be contested at Mugello in Italy on June 4, at the home track of Valentino Rossi.

The Doctor will be looking for a solid weekend after crashing out and failing to score any points in France.

Daryn Binder will once again be flying the South African flag high in Moto3 and hopefully he can keep the bike on track for the full race and contend for a podium as he has shown some good form this year.

Current MotoGP Championship Standings (Top 5)

1)Maverick Vinales Yamaha 85 points
2)Dani Pedrosa Honda 68 points
3)Valentino Rossi Yamaha 62 points
4)Marc Marquez Honda 58 points
5)Johann Zarco Yamaha 55 points
