Sports tournament for the youth
The aim of the tournament was to keep the youth entertained, and keep them away from criminal activities and substance abuse
A soccer and netball tournament took place in Matiwaneskop on Friday and Saturday.
Organised by the Department of Community Safety & Liaison, many gathered to watch the teams passing the ball around on the soccer field and shooting hoops on the netball court.
The aim of the tournament was to keep the youth entertained, and keep them away from criminal activities and substance abuse. It was a day of scintillating competitive action and great sportsmanship, with goal-scoring chances aplenty.
The day started at 9am and ended in the afternoon.
The department provided fruit and refreshments for all the hungry and thirsty players who participated in the tournament.
The semi-finals and finals took place on Saturday. One of the soccer semis saw Peace Lovers taking on Grasshoppers in a hard-fought encounter. The final score was: Grasshoppers 1 Peace Lovers 0.
It certainly was a Youth Day enjoyed by all the youngsters who attended.
