The Northern Natal Roller Pigeon Club has released its official competition dates for 2017.
On July 14 and 15, the club presents the 20 Bird Open World Cup Fly competition, pitting six contenders against each other in a race across the skies.
Paulus Groenewald is first off at 4pm on July 14.
The following day, Piet Bothma, Quintus Oosthuizen, Johan Adendorff and Lieb Swiegers respectively set off from 7.30am every hour, with Ben Otto taking flight at 4pm from Memel.

Next to come is the 12 Bird Open competition.
On July 21, Paulus Groenewald sets off at 4pm, with fellow competitors, Lieb Swiegers, Piet Bothma, Quintus Oosthuizen and Johan Adendorff launching on July 22 in that order, from 7.30am onwards.
Ben Otto’s campaign gets underway at 4pm on the same day.
In terms of competitions, the club has already had a busy time, contesting two titles in the opening weeks of June.
Results for these competitions are as follows:
Lieb Swiegers clinched first place in the 12 Young Bird Open competition, with Johan Adendorff and Piet Bothma in second and third respectively.
The second competition this month was the 15 Young Bird World Cup Fly.
Swiegers made it a double with a win here, fending off Bothma in second and both Adendorff and Oosthuizen – who tied for third place.
