Ladysmith AC clinch professional angling league

The VME League 6 of the Angling Professional League (APL) was held at Sandford on February 18 with Ladysmith Angling Club emerging the victors scoring 80 pts, followed by Breakwaters (70 pts); Dannhauser (28 pt); Stillwaters (17 pts), Challengers (16 pts) and Glencoe (9 pts).
Ladysmith AC was crowned as the VME League Champions for the season 2017/2018 due to their consistent performance throughout the season. The final log position sees Ladysmith AC in poll position with 70 pts; followed by Breakwaters (62 pts); Stillwaters (37 pts), Challengers (36 pts); Dannhauser (35pts) and Glencoe (12pts).
Kaveer Singh of Breakwaters was the “angler of the day”, scoring an impressive 14 pts, he received the “orange” cap, an outright trophy and R200. The top three anglers of the season were also confirmed with Monty Slabbert (BAC) finishing with 53 pts topping the log, followed by his teammate, Kaveer Singh (49pts) and Shane Mangaroo of LAC on 38 pts. They win themselves fishing tackle vouchers of R3 000, R2 000 and R1 000 respectively.
The top guns of the APL, Ladysmith and Breakwaters will each take on starting with the Transnat Knock-Out final on March 11 at Sandford, with a repeat of the same duel later in the AA Tours Grand Challenge at Richgate Park on April 15. Both teams will be going full out for glory in a highly competitive league with some new signings bolstering their contingent.
This season, the APL has introduced the “APL Closed Competition” scheduled for May 6 at Sandford for all its registered members where they can win substantial cash and prizes.
Top five anglers for Breakwaters and Stillwaters in League 6 were Kaveer Singh (14 points); Henning de Meyer (11 pts); Monty Slabbert (10 pts); Nishen Ramduth (7pts) and Vicky Bhooli (7pts).
