Athletes pass a gruelling uphill test

Last weekend, three of the club’s athletes took on the iconic Normandien Pass, during the first leg of the Zama Trail Run Series.

Ronell Keeve, Sakkie Spangenberg and Ingrid le Roux began at the picturesque Horseshoe Farm at the bottom of the pass, running 12 kilometres up to the top of the pass, followed by a 680-metre ascent before descending again, for a total trip of 24km.

“A stunning event with beautiful scenery, on the edge of KwaZulu-Natal, looking down over the escarpment to the Free State,” said club members.

They added the event was well-organised and the weather conditions were perfect.

“This was part of the three-run series, so if you missed out on the first, you can join in the next two.”

Club members are reminded of the Thursday afternoon club runs, which begin at 5.15pm from Höerskool Pionier.
