Bowlers all business as Winter Knights competition heats up
The Dundee flag was certainly flying high, and the club congratulates the members selected for the KZNCB District Squad, ahead of the district squad practice in Vryheid on August 3 and 4.
The Inter Zone Tournament was played in Newcastle this past weekend.
This tournament consists of the three zones making up the KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls (KZNCB) district: the Northerns zone in which Dundee falls, as well as Midlands and Zululand. In the end, it was Zululand which took the honours, with Midlands in second and Northerns in third place.
The Dundee flag was certainly flying high, and the club congratulates the following members, who were selected for the KZNCB District Squad: Jacques Bierbaum, Taryn Bierbaum, Greg Conolly, Des Johnson, Jo-Ann Melville, Rita Meyer and Essie Slabbert. These members will play in the district squad practice in Vryheid on August 3 and 4 and from there, selections will be made for the Presidents Cup on October 5 and 6.
Round Table Winter Knights
There was not much change on the leader board after last week’s games. Standings for Sections 1 and 2 are as follows: Langfontein 14 +44, Joff’s Skid Marks 11 +21, Cherrybums 12 +64, Tri-Star 10 +30, Charles Wade 10 +47, The Hesoms 10 +24. The league comes to an end this Thursday, where the top teams of the respective sections face one another.
Please remember the beneficiaries which benefit from this campaign, namely SPCA, NG Kerk Glencoe, Pro Nobis, Dundee Adult Centre and Dundee Crisis Centre. Bring along an item of clothing, canned food, pet food, a blanket or other items, which will then be distributed at the end of the league. A final invitation is extended to all Dundonians to support this wonderful cause – you don’t have to play to donate and all donations are very welcome.
Zone Open Fours
