Estcourt golfers enjoy a successful Skaapdag
There were many twists in Saturday’s Skaapdag that tested golfers’ skills
Richard Naidoo and David Diedrick sponsored a fantastic Skaapdag, having lovely prizes and a sit-down meal of mutton curry and rice. With a twist in the game, Charl Schaanick and Jacques Bezuidenhout finished third but with the twist and extra points, they moved up to first place on 51 points.

Gordon Chotu and Deejay Ramdhav also benefited from the twist and came second on 49 points. Third was Adrian Brown and Luke Schiever on 48 points, followed by Lional Laatz and Gordon Smith, also 48 points.
The jackpot on 12 points was won by Sam Sewsunker and Mayur Baboolal. Two-clubs were achieved by Lional Laatz and Paddy Geraty. Closest to the pins were Adrian Brown, Luke Schiever and Paddy Geraty. The prize for the Best Nett went to Adrian Brown on nett 68. Sponsor David Diedrick lost the plot in the club championship and one wonders where his 14 points from six holes on Friday came from. T
his Saturday is the Monthly Mug, sponsored by Mortimer Toyota, with the mug draw standing at R1200.
A previous monthly mug was won by Bruce Tittlestad, after a pro golfer visited the club recently and advised Bruce to practice as much as possible. As we all know, Bruce did put in a lot of work, having won the club champs and posting a 49-40 (yes, a 40) on Saturday for a nett 68 to beat the field by five shots.
Dave Diedrick took second place on nett 73, counting out Johannes Mchunu, also on nett 73. The Stableford winner was Bruce on 39, followed by Dave and Bunn Hamman on 35.
Two-clubs went to Jacque Bezuidenhout and Dave Diedrick. Ledly Hume was nearest the pin at number two and three, as well as winning the jackpot. The Estcourt A and B league sides are still leading KZNMGA. The A side beat Howick and stretched their lead further, while the B side lost to Mooi River.
