Squash league ends on a triumphant high

The Newcastle Squash Club held its End of League Function on May 31, at the old Monte Vista Hall, in Barry Hertzog Park.
Newcastle Squash Club Chairman, Danie Bester, had the following message:
“We have finished the Summer League and thought it would be great to celebrate all our players with a prize-giving function, to show appreciation for all put in the past season, while looking forward to the next season. We are also grateful to all our proud sponsors, NTT Newcastle, Isuzu and Honda. Currently we have 50 players in the league and will opening entries for the doubles league.”
Bester said squash is a sport which can be enjoyed by everybody.
“Squash is a type of sport that you do seven days a week, day or night, and anyone who is interested can come and join us. It is a great cordial environment, because we host regular social evenings and we have the best squash courts in Northern KwaZulu-Natal. We also offer training and coaching for anybody who would like to take up the sport.”
The evening ended with players being presented with their trophies and awards.

The winning team of the Summer League was Honda JAZZ.
Honda Jazz team members are:
No 1 player: Dale Schnuir (Captain).
No 2 Player: Rushil Shahibdeen.
No 3 Player: Timothy Bezuidenhout.
No 4 Player: Ashay Shahibdeen.
No 5 Player: Gideon Hand.
The number one player in each league is as follows:
Best number 1: Dali Mahaya.
Best number 2: Tinus Van Vuuren.
Best number 3: Douglas Pistorius.
Best number 4: Ashay Shahibdeen.
Best number 5: Gideon Hand.
