Aspiring tennis aces hit the court

The clinic is aimed at keeping learners busy and active during the holidays, strengthening their tennis skills and helping learners decide if tennis is in fact for them.

Young tennis players are getting one step closer to going pro.

A group of 20 tennis players attended a tennis coaching clinic, hosted by Gareth Sharp over the course of a few days last week.

Sharp is a professional coach with his own brand.

Under his guidance, the young players were put through their paces, including practice drills, competitive rallies and basic fitness training.

Sharp’s coaching method is based on three important aspects.

The clinic is aimed at keeping learners busy and active during the holidays, strengthening their tennis skills and helping learners decide if tennis is in fact for them.

“It depends on timing, but I host clinics anywhere from twice to four times a year. July and December are the biggest clinics because they coincide with school holidays.”

On why he’s so passionate about tennis, Sharp explains the sport was something he grew up with and coaching never feels like work to him.

He also enjoys watching children improve their tennis playing abilities.

“I’ve been playing and coaching for around 13 years now.”
