Local youngster a star on the hockey field

Muhammed Moola (12) is currently making waves on hockey fields around the country, most recently in Bethlehem. Muhammed took part in the Central U/12 hockey tournament in Bethlehem last week, where he represented the U/12 KwaZulu-Natal provincial team.

He was one of only two players to be selected for the team from Ladysmith and competed against other provincial teams such as Free State, Border, Northern Gauteng and Northern Cape.

The proceedings kicked off on the Monday, continuing up until Thursday, with Muhammed playing six games.

His team made it into the top half of the points table. Muhammed plays the position of right link and always looks to score for his team.

This is only Muhammed’s second year of playing hockey and his natural talent has already seen him being selected for the provincial team.

Cricket is his first love, but now hockey has made its way into his life as well. Muhammed is currently in Grade 6 and looking to have an excellent career in hockey.

During the tournament in Bethlehem, scouts from different high schools around the country were present to watch the players and identify sparkling talent. Judging by Muhammed’s success so far, they are sure to have spotted him.

His sporting career certainly looks promising indeed, with his high school years still lying ahead of him.

On Wednesday, July 3, Muhammed will be travelling to White River to take part in an U/13 cricket tournament. Well done, Muhammed, on your sporting achievements and may you rise to even greater heights in the future.
