Landile talks about running being her “sacred place”
"No matter how tough the road gets, the body will achieve what the mind tells it"
Landile Maduna, a 34-year-old woman from the Ensimbini area of Roosboom, ran the 2019 Comrades Marathon, which started at the Durban City Hall and finished at the Scottsville race course in Pietermaritzburg.
“I started participating in Comrades in 2016 when I was 30 years old. I did not reach the finish line in 2016, 2017 or 2018, but I got my first Comrades medal in 2019, which made me very happy indeed. My greatest runs are not measured by my racing success, but every time I cross the finish line, I know I have done well. It is the thought that no matter how tough the road gets, the body will achieve what the mind tells it,” explains Landile.
She added that running challenges her to learn more about herself, physically and mentally, saying that it’s a sacred place where she has meetings with herself.
