Ladysmith rugby boys need help to make their dream come true

Nathi Mvelase (17) and Luyanda Mbatha (18) from Ladysmith High School (LHS) need your help to make their dream come true. These two teens have been selected for a rugby tour to Georgia, Russia, from December 5 to 13.

Travel and Sport, an internationally recognised tour operator, has offered Nathi and Luyanda a chance to accompany other top players as part of a team on this rugby tour. The tour will see the team travelling to Georgia and competing against local opposition. The tour has been specifically designed to expose the players not only to sport and all the offerings of Georgia, but also the prospective opportunities available to them.

However, the boys need funds from companies and the community at large to make this tour a reality, as they tell the Ladysmith Gazette that it would be a dream come true to travel to another country to play and learn more about their favourite sport.

“We are excited about this tour, the reason being we can play rugby against foreign players, which is something we have never done before,” says Luyanda.

With a huge smile on his face, Nathi says he started playing rugby when he was in Grade 1 and from then on, this has been his favourite sport. He hopes to one day be selected to play rugby for his country.
