More women take a swing at golf
Lessons for women interested in playing golf are held every Tuesday and Thursday
Traditionally, golf is viewed as a male-dominated sport.
So much so that the word ‘golf’ is commonly known as an acronym for ‘gentlemen only, ladies forbidden’.
However, this mind-set is shifting rapidly as more females take a swing at the sport.

To promote ladies’ golf and grow the number of players at the Estcourt Golf Club, Cynthia Richmond has started giving lessons.
Currently, five women meet twice a week at Drakensview Primary School at 3pm to learn and hone golf skills.
“Although we do have lady players at our club, our aim is to introduce more women to golf and develop existing skills,” said Mrs Richmond while the women lined up and practiced their tee-off on Thursday afternoon.
