Packers hit hard in squash league

Spectators and supporters are urged to be at the squash courts on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5.30pm.

Team Packers is packing a punch in the OK Value Squash League.

After three weeks of league play, The Packers, comprising Vlok (captain), Shakeel Kalideen, Weon du Plooy, Martinique Vlok and Hamish Grierson, are current log leaders with a total score of 60. Team Tellers (Mark Nero – captain, Kevin Donaldson, Jacques Corbitt, Corne Janse van Rensburg and Tamarah Grierson) are second, followed by team Merchandisers – Andre Karsten, Nozipho Mhlotswa, Amit Bhartu, Craig Owen and Welcome Mahlaela.

Newcomer, Rudi Dorfling is already making an impact on the court. He won his first game, against Morne Mare, by three points to two, which immediately placed him second on the ladder and his second game was against Zhane Qwabe. Zhane managed to beat him in a close match, which shifted him to third overall.

“Well done for providing action-packed entertainment for the past few weeks!” said club representatives.

Another close game was between Andre Karsten and Eugene Corbitt, where Eugene managed to beat the more experienced Andre. It was a great game to watch, with good sportsmanship from both.

Spectators and supporters are urged to be at the squash courts on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5.30pm, where they can witness some great squash.
