Athletes wind down after a year of athletic success
VAC athletes were praised and rewarded for their hard work during the year

The athletes of the Vryheid Athletics Club were ‘all in’ during a very successful year.
As the year drew to a close, the club hosted its annual year end function and awards evening on Saturday, with the theme of festive African. VAC athletes were praised and rewarded for their hard work during the year. Lots of tears, muscle aches, injuries, positive energy and laughter during the year made this group of athletes all winners of the evening.

Stirrer of the Year: Ronell Keeve. Midnight Runner: Hein Potgieter. Club Supporter: Ronel Delport. Comrades Surprise: Marlene Bean. The Nienaber Trophy: Mandla Mnisi. Most Active Runner: Hlobi Madida. Spangenberg Male Trial Runner of the Year: Sakkie Spangenberg. Barbara Dicks Female Trial Runner of the Year: Ronell Keeve. Male Time Trialist of the Year: Bongani Masimango. Female Time Trialist of the Year: Lorraine van der Nest. Novice Runner of the Year: Leeroy Holmes. Most Improved Male Athlete of the Year: Richard Scheepers. Most Improved Female Athlete of the Year: Marlene Bean. Male Junior Athlete of the Year: Jayd Scheepers. Male Veteran Athlete of the Year: Jabulani Ndwandwe. Female Veteran Athlete of the Year: Paula Small. Male Master Athlete of the Year: Ronel Bean. Male Grand Master Athlete of the Year: Sakkie Spangenberg. Female Grand Master Athlete of the Year: Cathy de Beer. Female Great Grand Master of the Year: Georgie Tasseron. Female Athlete of the Year: Melissa Scheepers. Male Athlete of the Year: Bongani Masimango. Chairman’s Award: Lorraine van der Nest.
