Going the distance at the Josiah Gumede Marathon

Runners braved the extreme heat to finish the race

The Josiah Gumede Marathon was held in Bergville on Saturday.

Local runners and clubs were part of this race. As an idea of just how hot it was on the day, temperatures reached 31 degrees by 9am.

Bongi Ndumo, Dr Nosipho Manyono and Samuke Biyele, who all completed the 10km race.

It was a tough course, but the runners from Forderville Athletic Club managed excellent times.

42.2 km:
Nishal Mahadow – 4:46.
Bianca Nel – 5:27.

Sharmila Rajcoomar, Tina Sewgoolam and Nishal Mahadow.

21.1km:
Amri Sewnun – 2:35.
Sharmila Rajcoomar – 2:41.

10km:
Priscilla Sewnun – 1:26.
