High spirits at Inter Church League bowls finals

The league supports the churches and also provides the opportunity to catch up with friends and players alike.

The Ncandu Bowling Club held its weekly Inter Church League on Tuesday (26 November).

A group of members took to the green in great anticipation of the final leg of the competition, which began in October this year. Congregants from across Newcastle came together to play for victory and a good cause.

The league supports the churches and also provides the opportunity to catch up with friends and players alike. Tertia Combrink, secretary of the Ncandu Bowling Club, explained the purpose of the league was to allow members to learn and experience the game as much as possible.

Teams were made up of four individuals, of which two of were experienced players and the other two novice members of a church. The overall winner of the league among 12 teams, would receive a generous cash prize donated to their church of choice.

The results from the league are as follows:
– Winner for the most ‘touchers’ during the league was Jurie Steyn with an overall score of 22.
– The winner of the league was The Bergsig Duikers team, which took home the cash prize for its church.
