Double marathon success for super-athlete Bongani

Bongani is a true inspiration to all the runners!

Congratulations to the Vryheid Athletic Club chairman and secretary, Richard and Melissa Scheepers for completing the 50 kilometre ultra-marathon in excellent times of 4:50 and 4:34 respectively.
Congratulations also to Marlene Beän for qualifying for her Comrades Marathon, by running the 42,2km event in an excellent time of 3:31.
This is a personal best for her.
Congratulations to Hugo Burger for also qualifying for the Comrades in a time of 4:17.
Ronell Beän ran the 21,1km in 1:58 and Minicke Burger completed the 10km in 1:08 – well done to them!
Battlefields Marathon, Newcastle
Congratulations to all the participants who had a tough run in rainy weather, but who also enjoyed the excellent running conditions.
Congratulations to Tholiwe Hlophe for qualifying for the Comrades in the 42,2km race, in a time of 4:46.
Paula Small also ran her 42,2km qualifier in a time of 4:11, while Bongani Msimango ran an excellent 3:12, despite doing a double! He ran two marathons on two consecutive weekends.
Bongani is a true inspiration to all the runners! Amanda Vergottini was the second female finisher in the 21,1km event, in a time of 1:41. Well done to Bianca and Bernice, for completing the 21,1km in under two hours in a time of 1:57. Great runs were also had by Mishack Ledwaba (1:40), Siyaya Musi (2:08), Cathy de Beer (2:21), Michelle Baeta (2:22), Kurt Spannenberg (2:28) and Lorraine van der Nest (2:41), all in the 21,1km distance category. Congratulations to the 10km runners, André Small (54:59) and Thusi Buhle (1:06:00).
Everyone is reminded about the Willem Boshoff Marathon at Gooderson Natal Spa this Sunday (March 8). Entrance to the resort is free with an entry into the event.
Alternatively, enter for the 5km run/walk at R50 and enjoy the day at the resort.
Spectators pay R50 to enter – see you there.
