Endumeni’s athletes star at Capital City Marathon
Both athletes, who now run for SAVE Orion Athletics Club, impressed during the race
Two of Endumeni’s star athletes once again showed off their skills, at the inaugural running of the Capital City Marathon in Pietermaritzburg recently.
Bongani Sabela and Steve Mkhize, who run for the SAVE Orion Athletics Club, both impressed in the 42,2 kilometre marathon, bagging the bragging rights.
Bongani finished 15th in a time of 2:48:23.
An Orange Grove Dairy employee, Steve finished with a time of 3:28:19 and his employer also flew the area flag at the race.
Orange Grove manned a water table and was a sponsor of the event.
Ajith Deena, chairman of the SAVE Orion Athletics Club, said he was extremely proud of ‘Bongz’ for his achievement.
The race was won by Bongumusa Mthembu, the former Comrades Marathon winner.
