Bowlers remember Carl

Ready, aim, fire!

Bowlers got together on Saturday for two special reasons.

One was to commemorate cancer victims and survivors, which saw bowlers wear pink on the greens, and the other to remember one of the club’s most passionate members, Carl Arndt, who passed on last week.

Players observed a minute’s silence before play with President, Greg Conolly, said a few words in memory of Carl and a prayer.

Bowlers then gathered on the green to re-enact Carl’s trade mark ‘ready, aim, fire’ drive for which he was so renowned for.

After a good day’s play the winners were: Greg Conolly and Cronje Stadler with Dougie Slabbert and Tarryn Bierbaum second while Louis de Jager and Des Johnson took third place. On Monday, bowlers played a Women’s Day competition. See next week’s Courier for news of that.
