Busy sporting week at Weenenprimer

The newly arranged and neatly marked sports fields at Weenenprimer sprung to life last week when Hamilton Prep. and St Gregs Primary played against the locals in netball and soccer respectively.
On Monday, Hamilton visited with a junior and a senior netball team and the girls dazzled and exhibited their many and varied skills. The junior game was a really exciting spectacle with Weenenprimer running out convincing winners. In the senior game, Hamilton proved too strong and they reversed the junior result by convincingly beating their hosts.
The most encouraging part of the afternoon was the amazing team spirit displayed by all of the girls, and also the social links that they forged.
On Wednesday, St. Gregs visited with their junior and senior soccer teams. The junior game was an end-to-end affair and a great deal of fun was had by all of the boys. In the end Weenenprimer ran out 2-0 victors.
The senior game was really exciting with much goal mouth action and some good football played, too. St.Gregs went into an early lead with a very well taken goal after some good build-up work. Weenenprimer equalised with a similarly good goal shortly after the break. Another excellent goal from St.Gregs saw them take the lead for the second time in the match, but this was short-lived as the hosts equalised from a throw-in. A super game left the final score at 2-2.
Weenenprimer thanks Hamilton Prep and St. Gregs for travelling to Weenen to make these games possible.
