Swimming Gala rewards at 20th November awards.

The pool of contenders was huge, as swimmers came from 10 pre-primary schools, and 13 primary schools.

Swimmers from pre-primary and primary schools put their skills to the test in an inter-school swimming gala hosted by Camille Swim Studio.

Taking place on November 15, 16, 22 and 23, the young athletes were placed into their respective age groups to face off against one another.

The pool of contenders was huge, as swimmers came from 10 pre-primary schools, and 13 primary schools.

In the U/6 category, Siyabonga Ngobese of St Dominic’s Academy was placed first with his counter-part from the ‘fairer sex’ Mioné de Valence of Bergsig Pre-primary.

The best seven-year-old boy was Sinakho Thusi and the best girl was Hloni Mthimkhulu both from St Dominic’s Academy.

St Dominics Academy pupils continued to perform exceptionally when pupils Ethan Kruger, and Nkosi Nonyane were awarded the top honours in the eight-year-old catergory.

Aspen Shaw of Huttenpark Primary was the best nine-year-old boy and yet another St Dominic’s Academy pupil performed well in the form of Afika Nkosi who was the best nine-year-old girl swimmer.

These categories were not for speed and fitness, but rather for technique.

Ruan and Danielle Bosman who began their swimming career with the swim studio managed to secure top honours in the 10 years and above categories. Both youngsters are currently swimming competitively in competitions across the country.

A host of other awards was also presented, including Most Improved Swimmer and Most promising Swimmer during the Camille Swim Studio’s Awards Evening.

The event also celebrated the swim studio’s 20th year in operation.
