Sarel honours sports and cultural excellence

he Club 100 trophy for the most promising sports boy and girl went to Lizwi Sangweni and Georgia Viljoen.

The annual Sports and Cultural Prize Giving took place on August 30 to honour the learners who have excelled in their respective disciplines.
The Alicia Bester trophy went to Georgia Viljoen for the most versatile girl for the following achievements: KZN Hockey, NKZN u/18 Tennis, Athletics, Mathematics Olympiad and Afrikaans Wêreldkennis.
The Nicky Scheepers trophy for the most versatile boy went to Julian Kriel for the following: Rugby, Tennis, Cricket and Golf.
The Club 100 trophy for the most promising sports boy and girl went to Lizwi Sangweni and Georgia Viljoen. For true dedication, Kululeko Shezi received the Jasper Slabbert trophy. In athletics, the Senior Victor Ludorum trophy went to Wiehan Whelan and the Senior Victrix Ludorum went to Liezel Viljoen. The Junior Victor Ludorum is Ulrich Oelofsen and the Junior Victrix Ludorum Trophy was shared by Olwethu Nxumalo and Lenzokuhle Duma.

Sarel Cilliers High School played Cricket against Ladysmith High School on August 28. After a good start by LHS the total set was just too far for Sarel to reach. Unfortunately Sarel lost by 62 runs. Congratulations for being placed third your pool and all of the best for your play off games vs Pionier 1 and St Dominics in the weeks to follow. Sarel Cilliers u/15s took part in a Sevens Tournament hosted by Voortrekker High School at Woodburn Stadium Pietermaritzburg on September 2. After narrowly losing 21-17 and 24-12 vs Maritzburg College and Northwood respectively, the boys stood strong and showed a never surrender attitude, winning the rest of their games. Scores as follows: Sarel vs Westville win 36-0, Sarel vs Voortrekker win 64-0, Sarel vs Transkei Journey win 62-0.
