Drakies dive in at Polar Bear Challenge

43 Drakies participated, some of them only nine-years-old

A swim not for the faint hearted, is how the annual Polar Bear Challenge is described! The swim takes place in water measured at 11° Celsius, with a swimming distance of 100 meters.

It is a community-based fundraising drive for the Estcourt Animal Shelter and Khetani Dog Rescue in Winterton.
This year’s swim was held June 23 at the Dragon Peaks Dam in the Drakensberg.
