In the past month, we have received hundreds of comments from readers regarding the electricity bills. Ranging from the dismayed to the downright furious, the community united to have their say.

Promises from the municipality to address their ‘mistake’ proved to be fruitless for many, who expressed their disgust when electricity bills remained unchanged, or even increased in the new month.

Now, a petition is doing the rounds urging residents to unite and demand the option of prepaid meters.

However, there are those who feel prepaid meters aren’t all they claim to be.

The municipality is now in the process of receiving applications to install smart meters in Ncandu Park and Fernwood, as part of a pilot project.
