Our beautiful town will no doubt benefit from the heavy rains we have been blessed with this week.
However, some advice for motorists, from a fellow motorist:
- Please make sure you leave your temper behind – there’s nothing worse than losing your cool at slow drivers and traffic while you still have to navigate wet and slippery roads.
- Be sensitive – not everyone will be as confident as you are, so cut fellow motorists some slack instead of urging them to stray from their comfort zones.
- Slow down – this should be a given, but I’ve noticed that there are a few of you out there who enjoy some speed in the rain.
- Make use of indicators – there are quite a few Newcastillians guilty of this; we can’t read your mind, so PLEASE indicate when turning.
- Finally, be cautious – road conditions in the rain are slippery at best. Always be alert and aware of your surroundings and mindful of pedestrians and fellow motorists.
