Gospel star to promote music in Ladysmith
Aside from his singing career, he is a correctional services officer who prides himself on upholding the laws of the land
Local gospel singer Mpumelelo Hlophe is hoping to open his own recording studio towards the end of the year to try and promote music right here in Ladysmith. Mpumelelo recently launched his second album since signing a record deal with Kgabo Music Productions.
The soulful singer is back on the scene with not just another inspiring CD under his belt, but also his own music production company. His first solo album was released in March 2011, with the recording of the album being done in Johannesburg. His latest offering, ‘Sikhonza uNkulunkulu Wezimanga’, was released in March this year.
Mpumelelo has been singing ever since he was in Sunday School and believes he has been ‘called’ to sing in honour of God. “I’m not in it for fame and fortune,” explains Mpumelelo. He is a member of the Assemblies of God Church and has been singing in school choirs from a young age.
Aside from his singing career, he is a correctional services officer who prides himself on upholding the laws of the land.
This spiritual singer is confident that his latest record will “strike gold”, as he says his music has grown in stature since he started out in the business.
