Name: Valerie van Rooyen

Occupation: Pensioner and poet

Family: I have two sons and six grandchildren and will be a great-grandmother within the next eight weeks. I also have two married stepdaughters. My dog, Rambo keeps me company and has been a faithful companion for the past nine years.

Interesting fact about myself: My poetry is featured at the National English Literary Museum at Grahamstown. I also submitted poetry that was featured on ‘The Wall’ of the Times of Newcastle.
