NAON hosts year end function

New Age Of Newcastle (NAON) held its year-end function last Thursday, November 27, at the Ward 3 War Room.
Marking the closure of NAON until January 15, members from the Newcastle and oSizweni branch united as one to end the year on a social level.
Looking back at the past year, Chintz Ramlall, NAON chairperson, said NAON was more than just a social organisation.
“We are family. When help is needed, we are there and I would like to thank everyone for their support.”
She reminded members that they had a lot to look forward to in the upcoming year.
“On January 8, NAON will be moving to new premises,” she informed.
The new premises are on Jasmine Street, opposite the Suryaville Municipal Pool.
Ally Hoosein, NAON spokesperson, said he was glad about the growth of the organisation but would like to see it grow even more.
Enrolment for NAON will reopen in February 2015 and the community has been invited to join the organisation’s ranks.
“Membership fees will be R50 from next year and the monies will go towards our feeding scheme,” Mr Hoosein explained.
Next year, NAON will not only be feeding the elderly NAON members. “We will be feeding everyone who is a NAON member,” Mr Hoosein said.
He wished attendees a Happy Christmas and New Year.
