International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) will be hosting a two-day workshop with Mahatma Das, an American who dedicated his life to spiritual enlightenment.

Mahatma Das was born in Los Angeles, California in 1950.

In 1969, at the age of 19 he met his spiritual teacher, Srila Prabhupada, through the ancient text, The Bhagavad Gita As It Is.

Since then, he has spent the last 40 years studying, practising and teaching spirituality.

This has culminated in the work he does today, developing workshops, websites, online courses and books through his company, Soul Tools. He shows the many ways spirituality offers solutions to the challenges of today and writes and teaches in a way that resonates with people in general, and helps them see life as a spiritual practice.

There was an Indian sage, Sanatana Goswami, who was said to have a touch stone (touch stones can turn anything that it touches to gold).

Having heard of this, a materialistic man went in search of Sanatana Goswami. When he found Sanatana Goswami, he asked him for the stone. Sanatana Goswami casually mentioned the stone was in the bin.

The man eagerly rushed to the bin to get the stone. However, once he had the stone he suddenly stopped and asked himself, “Why was it in the bin? What does Sanatana have that is so valuable that he threw a touch stone in the bin?” So he put the stone back in the bin and went to back to speak to Sanatana.

We live in a fast changing world, bombarded by changing values, driven by materialism. The present generation has more things then previous generations, but is more unhappy than previous generations. What did they know that we do not? What did Sanatana Goswami know that we do not? How do we find purpose and real satisfaction in today’s world?

If you would like to find the answers to these questions, you can join ISKCON and Mahatma Das on May 16 and May 17 at 20 Toucan place, Lennoxton.

The event is set to start at 6.15pm on both days.

On May 16, the workshop will revolve around the19th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, while on May 17, the course will focus on finding your true nature and purpose.

Refreshments will be served.
