With her bubbly persona and can-do attitude, Birgit Schulz is definitely no wallflower.

With her bubbly persona and can-do attitude, Birgit Schulz is definitely no wallflower.
“I am a people orientated person and love being around others,” she said.
Birgit was crowned Miss Personality at the Miss Newcastle’s awards ceremony on Saturday – an award well-suited to the beauty queen.
“I was asked to do the Miss Newcastle pageant before, but wasn’t really interested as I thought pageants were girly things which required no real effort, but it was not like that at all,” she laughed.
After competing this year, she said she was amazed at the effort put into pageants such as Miss Newcastle.
“Not only do you get experience to boost your self-confidence, but you go into the community and serve the people.”
During the build up to the awards ceremony, Birgit said she and other contestants worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
“I think the contest should rather run for six or eight months, so contestants can really get a feel for things, as two months are too short.”
Pleased with her title as Miss Personality, Birgit said she believed during the rest of 2016, it was imperative for all contestants to support Courtney Smith, the winner of Miss Newcastle.
“Contestants should help Courtney as much as possible, so people can see what Miss Newcastle really entails. It is not just about looking pretty on stage,” she said.
Birgit said for her the Miss Newcastle pageant was never about winning.
“For me, it was about the experience I gained, the new friendships and developing as a person.”
She is currently studying to become a teacher, as she believes education and teachers play an vital role in children’s lives.
“My motto is education is the foundation for the next generation, which is why I am studying teaching. I feel it is vital to help teach children important morals from a young age and encourage them to learn.”
While she is determined to follow a career in teaching, Birgit said she would enter Miss Newcastle again in a heartbeat and would also consider a career in modelling.
The Newcastle Advertiser congratulates Birgit on her outstanding achievements, and trusts she will continue to fly Newcastle’s flag sky-high.
