The US soapie has been part of our daily lives of many for decades. However, it has been reported this will no longer be the case, thanks to the SABC’s 90 per cent local content quota.

The change will be implemented mid-July, although, the soapie, Bold and the Beautiful is safe from the chopping block – for now.

South African’s can expect more local content on their screens on all SABC channels, as per the quota.

In May, SABC COO, Hlaudi Motsoeneng announced the SABC planned to increase local content o TV to 80 per cent, and 90 per cent on the public broadcaster’s radio channels.

New production contracts have already been provided to producers to generate more local TV content.
