Magnificent Megan has a message for the masses

FOLLOWING a stellar performance at the World Lyrical Dance Federation Competition in Sandton, local dancer, Megan De Beer, has been selected for the WLDF 2017 SA Team.

The competition took place on July 30 and Megan’s performance earned her first place in the ‘16 and under’ age category.

As a first time participant in this competition, Megan was very excited to take part, surprising even her proud mother, Marina De Beer, with her outstanding results.

“The audience were in tears as she did her lyrical piece, ‘Beauty,’” stated Marina. “Megan wants to inspire teenagers and adults with this piece.”

“Centre stage, all eyes on you, and we are all watching for what you can do with these things that some strive for, this thing that some live for and this thing that some die for.

Inside each woman there is something so beautiful that make up and diet pills can’t define, the latest trends cannot confine, a beauty so true, I dare call it divine!

But something happened along this road. Beauty was twisted, distorted and perverted. Instead of listening to the voice of the one who invented beauty, we’ve been turning our ears to the ones who destroy it.

With every word they whisper, with every product they sell, with every ad they show, we are drawn to captivation, a captivation of mental chains.

With lack of inspiration we can conform to the standards of this nation.

You want to be beautiful? Not with that nose, that hair or those clothes, because your face must be painted and your nails must be too. Those few extra pounds shed, because sticks are the style.

Now don’t you feel lovely? All eyes are watching, so don’t let that tear fall, don’t let that chin drop, stick out that chest, shoulders back, now walk forward – A deceptive mess.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

A masterpiece of the master, Himself, see yourself through His eyes and don’t buy into the lies.

You are beautiful; you are one of a kind, a work of art.

Your nose is perfect; your body shape too, because there is only one you.”

Her selection for the WLDF 2017 SA Team means that Megan will be jetting off to London with the team in the not too distant future.

“Megan has big plans for the future,” says Marina. “She will be starting to teach solo dances for those who are dedicated and have a passion to perform.”

“We are extremely proud of Megan,” she adds. “We would also like to thank everyone who has supported her this far. We feel blessed to have so many people who care and support Megan!”
