Get creative and create out of this world, unique centerpiece items for your wedding reception.
As tradition goes, flowers are the go-to choice when planning a wedding reception. These include the bouquet, decor and table centrepieces.
However, going floral crazy can be quite costly and probably take up most of your wedding budget, leaving you short on cash with the rest of your planning.
Lucky for us, times have changed, and living in the 21st century means we get to explore other options and show our creative skills, in our own unique ways.
Below is a list of ten ideas to use for an out-of-the-box, extravagant wedding table centerpiece, which uses little to none floral decoration:
1. For the bookworm:
Books will make a unique centerpiece, especially if your wedding has that certain antique feel to it. Add candles to the top of the book stack for that extra special look.
2. Go cake crazy:
Instead of one huge wedding cake, rather have one-tier cakes in the center of each table. Decorate each cake in a different colour and when dessert time comes, guests can help themselves.
3. Farmers choice:
Place two or three glass jars on each table, and fill them with sliced fruits such as lemons and oranges, to add colour. Fill each jar with water to keep the fruits fresh.
4. Light up the room with lamps:
Ah, add ambiance and a relaxed mood to the room with lamps. If there isn’t enough power points, LED solar lamps will also do the trick. Go crazy with this idea and see what size and shape lamp works best as a centrepiece.
5. Dinner by candle light:
Play around with this idea. Candles create an intimate feeling to any room. Choose different colours and size candles for each table. Place them in beautiful candelabras or even use floating candles in a mason jar.
6. DIY paper flower decor:
Get crafty and make your own flowers out of paper or even tissue. You can make the flowers the way you want them and you even get to make your own creative vases.
7. Get crafty with candy:
This will be a winner among guests, because who doesn’t love candy? Place glass jars in the center of the tables, and fill them with your favourite sweets. This will add that colourful and playful look to the table.
8. Balloons are fun:
Who says balloons are only for children parties? Use helium inflated balloons and place them in the middle of the tables. Add ribbons and any other decor you want, and watch how your table transforms into something unique and beautiful.
9. Say Thank-you in style:
Instead of thank-you gift bags, use gift boxes instead. decorate them the way you want them, and then stack them neatly in the center of the table.
10. Feather frenzy:
Yes feathers! This makes an elegant and unique centrepiece idea. Collect glass bottles and decorate them with paint, glitter and even beads. Place the feathers in the bottles and see the beauty it adds to the table.
