Dj Gogo says goodbye

The 63 year-old said that she needed time to spend with her grandchildren as she is getting older.

AFTER a few years of making locals dance and keeping the local entertainment industry alive, Khonie Mapeka, known by many locals as Dj Gogo, is finally hanging her headphones up and calling it a day.

The 63 year-old said that she needed time to spend with her grandchildren as she is getting older.

“The past few months have been hectic for me with back-to-back gigs. I barely get time to be with my family,” she said.

She started working in the entertainment industry back in 2009 after leaving her career as a paramedic.

“I have received such great love and support from Vryheid’s people and am very grateful to them for having given me the opportunity to entertain them,” she said.

Although she will be leaving the entertainment world, Dj Gogo says that she will still be part of many community projects, as she likes to be an active member of the community.
