#WackyWednesday: Geek facts you might not know
Are you a fan of comic books and science fiction? Be sure to read the following list and see if you were aware of the following geeky facts.
NEWCASTLE – In a world where reality is often stranger than fiction, comic books and super hero movies offer a welcome escape to some.
But for die-hard geeks, the comic book world is a universe which is constantly expanding and evolving. Be sure to read the following eight “geek facts” which you might have been unaware of.
1. Death’s Head gets connected
Death’s Head is depicted as a robotic bounty hunter and was created by Marvel. However, he has appeared in Dr Who and in Transformers, thereby connecting three universes.
2. Marvel knows we exist
Believe it or not, while jocks might not believe in superheroes, they believe in us. Our universe actually exists in the Marvel multiverse and our earth is named Earth-1218.
3. The big green machine was initially gray
The Incredible Hulk is one of the most iconic superheroes to grace the cinematic and comic world, but very few people know he was gray. After Marvel had some issues with their ink presses, it was decided to make him green.
4. Spider-man once followed the flock
In a comic book published in 1997, Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive sheep instead of a spider in an alternate universe. This gave him the super powers of a sheep and the name Sheep-boy, instead of the legendary skills we know him for.
5. Nightcrawler and his family
Despite Nightcrawler working side by side with Mystique and other mutants in the X-Men Apocalypse movie, the teleporting mutant is in fact Mystique’s and Azazel’s son, a fact producers overlooked when making the film.
6. Luke Skywalker was nearly a Starkiller
Luke Skywalker from the Star War franchise was nearly named Luke Starkiller. However, the name was fortunately changed.
7. Star Wars has a South African link
The Jawa’s lingo is based on the Zulu language, although it is sped up to a point where it is almost unrecognisable.
8. Santa Clause is a mutant
Santa appeared in a six page X-Men short story, where it was discovered he was the most powerful mutant in existance. Having mutant powers explains how he is able to deliver gifts across the world in one night.
