If you have some goods you wish to turn into cash, put them into the boot of your car and book a stand to sell them.

Issued by Doug Grewar, Paddadam Renovation Project Coordinator

THE Paddadam Project Renovation Team has been granted a letter of permission by AbaQulusi’s Acting Safety Manager to hold a Market Day at Paddadam on February 4. It will be a Flea Market come Farmer’s Market come Boot Sale Market.

There are 5m x 5m and 3m x 3m stands available for only R50. Please contact Marlize Coetzer on 074 136 8101 for application forms. Farmers have been invited to bring fresh meat and vegetables for sale and several local companies have booked stands. If you have some goods you wish to turn into cash, put them into the boot of your car and book a stand to sell them. Sellers are also coming from Piet Retief, Utrecht and other towns.

It should be a fun family day with various foods on sale. The weather forecast is sunny and 31 degrees so bring your hats and sun-block. The Neighbourhood Watch have booked the island for their stand and will be selling lekker curry and rice. Eddie’s Butchery has promised to attend with braai packs at very reasonable prices.

Nico van Wyk is bringing his toy train to give the kids rides and Marius Nigrini is bringing remote controlled model cars for visitors to race on the existing concrete track.

There will be a R10 entry fee at the main gate for all adults, whose hands will be stamped. If anyone tries to refuse to pay or block the gate, a tow truck will be there to remove their vehicle to be impounded at the testing grounds. The money received, after expenses are deducted, will be shared with the Community Patrol (20%) and the SPCA in the spirit of community supporting community. Paddadam’s share will be used to employ workers to continue improving the park.

Swimming will not be allowed on the Market Day to avoid more drownings. The SAPS, municipal security guards and the Neighbourhood Watch will be there in full force to keep everyone safe and they will be assisted by 20 marshals. Kwa-Zulu Private Ambulance will be stationed there for emergencies and the District Hospital Manager has been notified of the event just in case there are any accidents.

It has been decided to move the Potjieskos competition forward to Saturday March 4, along with the sack races, tug of war, and fly fishing accuracy competitions. The Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch will be the hosts on that Fun Day and will be organising the event.
