"If you have spent any time in a shelter you will know how every single one is so grateful for love and desperate for freedom," she says. "They don't deserve the hand they were dealt and we owe it to them to find them good homes."

“ABANDONED animals deserve love and a second chance,” says Khalia Schmitting.

This local resident and animal lover feels strongly about the welfare of animals and visited Vryheid SPCA last week to spend some time with the animals in their care.

“If you have spent any time in a shelter you will know how every single one is so grateful for love and desperate for freedom,” she says. “They don’t deserve the hand they were dealt and we owe it to them to find them good homes.”

Khalia has stood up for the rights of abandoned animals several times before and encouraged other communities to support their respective animal shelters.

This playful pooch enjoyed the love and affection he got from Khalia Schmitting at Vryheid SPCA.

During her visit to Vryheid SPCA, Khalia formed a special bond with an exquisite smoky grey cat with striking features and a personality that captured her heart instantly. Without hesitation, she completed the adoption form, offering this animal a second chance in a forever home that will shower her with the love she deserves.

If you are not able to adopt, you can make a difference by donating to the SPCA, as the struggle for funding is ongoing and every bit helps to ensure the well-being of animals in the care of the organisation.
