East Coast Radio bids farewell to Phat Joe

Phat Joe, who has been with ECR for a year, is apparently leaving the station due to a variety of new commitments outside of KZN.

Phat Joe will no longer be presenting the Drive Time show on East Coast Radio.

This comes after the station and Drive time presenter Phat Joe mutually agreed not to renew his contract.

Phat Joe is apparently leaving the station due to new commitments outside of KwaZulu-Natal.

While Phat Joe has contributed substantially to ECR, his demanding schedule has apparently put undue pressure on him.

“Phat Joe is one of the most respected entertainment personalities in South Africa, and while the relationship has ended sooner than we would have liked, we understand the demanding nature of his new projects,” said East Coast Radio Programming Manager Zane Derbyshire.

Derbyshire continued by saying the Drive show is one of the flagship shows on the station and requires the full-time dedication of its host in Durban.

“We would like to wish Joe all the success with his new ventures, which he will be launching soon. He remains a friend of East Coast Radio,” Derbyshire concluded.

A new Drive show host will be announced shortly.
