Palestinian delegation at Fun Day in Ladysmith
The Fun Day was a platform for Awqaf South Africa to demonstrate its stated goal of reawakening the Muslim community to contribute selflessly towards a worthy cause

They came, they saw and we were humbled. The visit by the young Shamsaan-Palestinian delegation to the Awqaf Fun Day was a humbling experience for all those who interacted with the true victims of oppression and hardships. To listen to their daily struggle was an eye-opener for many, but what resonated most to all was their passion for freedom and nationhood.
Media and marketing co-ordinator Noorisha Seedat was at pains to point out in her opening address that the Fun Day was a platform for Awqaf South Africa to demonstrate its stated goal of reawakening the Muslim community to contribute selflessly towards a worthy cause.
The stalls were stunning in their appeal (with stall holders vociferous in attracting reluctant buyers), the sporting activities buzzed incessantly and the tea garden was the perfect rendezvous on a winter’s afternoon.
No one could walk away from the gallant ladies who manned the tuck shop, not to mention the hot tea with decadent coffee topped off with delicious cakes and fabled Asian delights.
Seedat confirmed that the local chapter of Awqaf SA was duly impressed by the various donations and commitments, and this inaugural event will be followed by other events to inspire the community.
