Festival of Chariots to take place in the main street, Ladysmith

The Festival of Chariots certainly is an ancient force to be reckoned with

Yes, it’s festival time again! The Hare Krishna Movement Ladysmith lovingly invites you to the 15th annual Festival of Chariots, also commemorating the 100th birthday of the father of our nation, Nelson Mandela.

The festival will be held on Saturday, July 14, at 10am, with the arrival of the Lordships.

Lord Jagannath is a unique deity form of Lord Sri Krishna, who has especially appeared in this age known as Kali-Yuga to protect and deliver all living entities.

The Festival of Chariots certainly is an ancient force to be reckoned with. It is the oldest vedic / spiritual festival in the history of the world. We generally have to go to a church, temple or mosque to commune with God, but at this festival, the Lord comes out of His temple to meet you and I. There is something heartwarming and personal about this particular act of the Supreme.

A shadow reflection would be a world leader coming downtown to shake hands and spend time with us ordinary people. It is in this spirit that the Hare Krishna Movement Ladysmith lovingly invites you to the annual Festival of Chariots.

It will start at the top end of Murchison Street (opposite Ladysmith Number Plates and Signs), proceeding to the Town Hall, where further celebrations will continue. Thereafter, a sumptuous lunch will be served. Be there on time to receive the Lord’s blessings, which will fill your life with peace, calmness, happiness and tranquillity.
