Life-changing pageant coming up

Preparations for the ZEE-TV Miss India South Africa NKZN pageant are on the go…

The pageant, which draws lots of attention in NKZN, is set to take place on September 1.

Three of the 15 contestants will get the chance to travel to Durban to take part in the national event on December 1.

Organiser Mrs Vimmi Ramdaas said that the colourful event, which will take place at the ML Sultan Primary School Hall, is already attracting an extremely talented line-up of contestants who are bound to provide exceptional entertainment. “The talent segment is the heart of our pageant. Each contestant is given three minutes on stage to showcase her proficiency in a chosen performing art, whether it is dance, song, playing a musical instrument, presenting a dramatic sketch or ready prose or poetry.

“Talent scouts from ZEE-TV will be present at all our events and if there is someone on stage who shows promise, they could make it to Mumbai and television glory. The stakes are extremely high,” said Vimmi.

There are various segments in the pageant: an interview sequence behind closed doors, followed by an on-stage parade in western and eastern garments, the talent section, and then there is the question and answer session.

“The top three winners will travel to Durban, where they will be booked into a hotel for a few days and will be prepared for the nationals. The winner of this event will go to India next year to take part in the Miss India Worldwide Pageant. This is an incredible opportunity for our young women and I am hoping that as many as possible will take their chances, as it could change their lives,” concluded Vimmi.
