Do not buy fireworks from street vendors.

Safe use of fireworks

* Not for sale to people under the age of 16.  If bought they must be used under the parents supervision.

*Children can loose their fingers, hands and eyes due to parents negligence.

* All traders must have the Explosives Traders Permit issued by the SAPS clearly displayed on the premises.

* Do not buy fireworks sold by street vendors as most are illigal and not regulated as per the Explosives Act 26 of 1956.

Abuse of alcohol

The abuse of alcohol has proven to be the source of most Domestuc Violence cases opened in and around the Free State.

Females are urged to avoid walking home alone. Organise trusted transport to take you home.

Police readyness

Police have intensified patrols at places where alot of people will be gathering. Multi-disciplinery and Strategic Roadblocks are also held throughout the province to help put a stop to transportation of stolen goods, illicit drugs and cigarettes. If you see anything call the nearest police station.

Stock theft

Ensure that your animals are branded accordingly and as the owner of the livestock you have necessary paperwork to prove such. This will assist when livestock has been recovered. Ensure that your camp is also in order and that counting is done frequently for early detection of theft.
