Sasol strengthens water security through clinic and hospital support

The Parys initiative is a practical expression of Sasol's commitment to responsible water management and community partnership.

Sasol has reaffirmed its commitment to responsible water management and community partnership through a dedicated water security initiative in Parys, supporting both the Thabang Clinic in Tumahole and Parys District Hospital. In this context, Sasol said it is committed to working with local municipalities in their efforts to improve water systems and strengthen resilience. The Parys initiative is a practical expression of this commitment.

At Thabang Clinic, Sasol is implementing a comprehensive borehole and water supply solution designed to enhance reliable access to safe water.

Drilling and casing of the borehole, the foundation for the elevated tank structure, and yield testing to confirm sustainable water supply, are now completed, while offsite manufacturing of system components are 90% complete. Electrical work commenced on Monday.

At Parys Hospital, Sasol is supporting the establishment of a robust backup water system to mitigate the impact of interruptions in municipal supply by static water storage tanks with a total capacity of 10 000 litres.

An automatic municipal water feed line will ensure that the tanks are supplied when water is available.
The backup system will be connected to the hospital’s internal water network. Sasol said the interventions at the Thabang Clinic and Parys Hospital form part of Sasol’s broader water stewardship efforts in South Africa.

By combining technical solutions such as boreholes, solar power, and filtration, with active collaboration with local municipalities and health facilities, Sasol aims to contribute meaningfully to the resilience of critical community infrastructure.
