Take note that the N1 is currently closed between Kroonvaal Plaza and Kroonvaal Engen following a collision between two heavy motor vehicles and two light motor vehicles. The heavy vehicles caught fire.

According to Mr Sipho Towa, chairperson of RIMS, the number of fatalities and injuries are not confirmed as yet.

Emergency services, fire services and law enforcement officials are on the scene.

Alternative routes advised:

• From Kroonstad take R72 to Vredefort, Parys, from Parys take R59 to N1 

• From Gauteng Side , at Kroonvaal Off Ramp take R59 to Parys , R72 to Vredefort & Kroonstad then Back to N1
